For one of our clients we are looking for a freelance Specialist for Ecological Compensation

Project description:
The idea of the project “Marketplace for Ecological Compensation” is to provide ecological compensation as a service, helping companies ensure no net loss of biodiversity. The marketplace will bring together sellers providing forests, bogs or peatlands, and buyers such as industrial companies voluntarily committed to biodiversity net gain or no net loss. The role of the platform will essentially be the connector between the supply and the demand by providing science-based methodologies, a B2B Marketplace of biodiversity offsets measures, as well as a Registry and Support in reporting.

Planned start/end date:
27th June until 31st July 2022.

Tasks:

1. Regulation Evaluation:
- Summarize the regulatory framework for ecological compensation in Germany specifically and in EU in general
- Provide a summary on level of advancement of policy/regulation implementation between Germany, Finland, Sweden, and UK
- Create a word document detailed report and a PowerPoint slide deck with the/all findings
- Present the key findings within the Uniper project team.

2. Ecological Compensation and Restoration Market in Germany
- Analyze the supply side including conduction of stakeholder interviews and providing figures of the market size as well as segmentation
- Analyze the demand side including conduction of stakeholder interviews and providing figures of the market size as well as segmentation
- Ecosystem review to provide a landscape analysis of key players (industry, non-profit, start-ups, etc.)
- Competitor Analysis and creation of a competitive matrix for Ecological compensation services providers in Germany. This includes creating the list as part of the task
- Summarize Biodiversity valuation methods in Germany including pricing methods for different habitats in Germany
- Identify opportunities and risks of a platform for ecological compensation in Germany. As the project is to create a platform for ecological compensation, the goal here is to also know the risks and opportunities for this kind of platform/service - based on own understanding and experience as well as the information collected in the previous tasks above.
- Create a word document detailed report and a PowerPoint slide deck with the/all findings
- Present the key findings within the Uniper project team.


Must have:
  • Expertise in Biodiversity especially in Germany
  • Expertise in Ecological compensation market and regulatory framework in Germany;
  • German and English skills.

Nice to have:
  • Expertise in Biodiversity and Ecological Compensation in EU & UK.
