Consultant Azure Virtual Desktop - August 2022

Project description:
The Azure Virtual Desktop service needs to evolve and move approximately 1500 persons/computers from one design to another. The work primarily consists of planning migration waves in view of the capacity of the operations team, communication with end users via email, messages and virtual workshops and collation of issues arising not found in prior testing.
Tasks:
- Develop a plan to migrate waves of users from current design to new design in a staggered and meaningful way avoiding single team impacts and ensuring business continuity. Develop a plan that constitutes waves of persons with understanding and allowance for not migrating an entire team in the same migration window. Present this plan to the Service Owner for sign off prior to being implemented.
- Define meaningful milestones for progress during the migration with several points at which the overall plan can be changed and allow stakeholders decision gates so as to avoid internal challenges and issues in fulfilling the needs of the business.
- Create user training materials explaining the process users are expected to undertake as part of the migration and how it impacts them, both positive and negative. Share this document in the existing service community, take feedback from the community into consideration and make resulting adjustments.
- Provide professional consultancy to the internal operational teams to check whether the existing processes are still applicable in view of the new design and develop plans for changes as necessary.
- Identify and group clusters of similar issues and work with the service owner to develop a plan to mitigate future incidents and resolve the challenges in a timely manner to preserve the integrity of the migration timeline.
- Communications between all interested persons is expected to take place in MS Teams messages, virtual meetings and email.

Must Have:
- Project Management experience in a large organization
- Familiarity with the M365 suite, specifically Teams, Excel and Outlook.
Nice to Have:
- German language skills
- Knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure - Azure Virtual Desktop preferred.
