For one of our clients in the FCMG industry, we are looking for a freelance SAP SD Techno-Functional Consultant

Project name: DB-6661 SC E2E – Process Excellence / EASE

Overview:
  • The service is requested as part of the project SC E2E – Process Excellence / EASE.
  • The project focuses on enhancing end-to-end supply chain execution processes across the warehouse network through the design and implementation of a standardized EASE operating model. Activities include the assessment, harmonization, and optimization of key SAP-supported execution processes, with a particular emphasis on job scheduling and process sequencing for ATP processing, delivery note creation, shipment planning, and related batch activities. The scope also includes the definition and implementation of governance standards, operational procedures, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure consistent execution across locations.
  • The engagement is limited to the analysis and optimization of existing SAP processes and system settings. Expected activities may include process reviews, configuration adjustments, scheduling optimization, parameter tuning, documentation updates, and governance design. No new software solutions, applications, interfaces, infrastructure components, or third-party service providers will be introduced. The project does not involve changes to the overall system landscape, platform architecture, or core technology stack. The objective is to improve operational efficiency, reduce process complexity, increase transparency, and establish consistent system behavior while fully leveraging the capabilities of the existing SAP environment.

Tasks:
  • Technical analysis of the current ATP (available to promise in SAP SD) and Backorder Processing landscape, including custom programs, enhancements, user exits, and region-specific developments
  • Reverse engineering of existing ATP-related solutions to understand the underlying business and technical logic
  • Detailed analysis of custom ATP behavior during sales order creation and rescheduling processes
  • Identification of plant-specific and region-specific configurations, selections, enhancements, and custom developments that influence ATP behavior
  • Analysis of program interactions, data flows, internal tables, and dependencies between ATP-related programs
  • Assessment of options to temporarily deactivate ATP checks during order creation while allowing orders to be created without confirmations
  • Technical documentation of findings and knowledge transfer to client teams
  • Reverse engineering of existing custom ATP-related solutions at client, accompanied by the creation of comprehensive documentation and the execution of knowledge transfer to client teams.
  • Assessment of custom ATP behavior, process variations, and technical dependencies to identify root causes of complexity, inconsistencies, and inefficiencies.
  • Development of recommendations for harmonized ATP, delivery creation, shipment planning, and related execution processes, including governance and operational standards.
  • Deliverables: Creation of comprehensive documentation with all results regarding the above mentioned tasks with subsequent handover to client for review and approval for further usage.
  • The service provision of the contractor has the goal to preserve and Transfer System Knowledge, identify Complexity Drivers and Improvement Opportunities and develop Process Standardization and Governance.

Requirements for this position:
  • At least 10 years professional/project experience in Business Process Analysis & Optimization, SAP Application Consulting, Technical Analysis & Documentation and Governance & Standardization
  • Extensive experience in SAP SD, SAP LE and ABAP programming
  • Expert knowledge of SAP ECC / S/4HANA Order-to-Cash processes, including ATP, Backorder Processing, sales order processing, delivery creation, and shipment planning.
  • Strong understanding of SAP SD, MM, and Supply Chain Execution processes and their integration points.
  • Experience with custom SAP developments, including ABAP programs, enhancements, user exits, BADIs, batch jobs, variants, and interface analysis.
  • Ability to perform technical reverse engineering, impact assessments, root-cause analyses, and dependency mapping of complex SAP landscapes.
  • Experience in process documentation, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer in a multinational environment.
  • Familiarity with IT governance, change management, and SAP transport management principles.
  • Proven expertise in SAP ATP (Available-to-Promise), Backorder Processing, and Sales & Distribution (SD).
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA architecture and configuration related to order fulfillment processes.
  • Experience analyzing and documenting custom SAP developments, including ABAP programs, user exits, BADIs, enhancements, batch jobs, variants, and interfaces.
  • Demonstrated capability in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reverse engineering of existing SAP solutions.
  • Experience with cross-functional process integration involving SD, MM, Logistics Execution, and Supply Chain processes.
  • Ability to create clear technical and functional documentation and conduct effective knowledge transfer sessions.
