For one of our clients in the sportswear industry, we are looking for a freelance Sports Science Product Tester
Overview:
Short description of the project: Within the Football Innovation department the client is developing a testing framework that can be used to authentically test products. These tests aim to assess Football performance and athlete production interactions.
The project has the has the purpose to establish an objective, valid and reliable testing methodology based on the client's innovation strategy and philosophy to support future product iterations.

Creation of comprehensive documentation with all results regarding the above-mentioned tasks with subsequent handover to client for review and approval for further usage.
The performance of the contractor has the goal:
To have a reliable and valid battery of tests that can be used by football innovation to test product for objective and subjective feedback including the seamless production of data and reports.

Start: ASAP
Capacity: full-time, 40h/week
Duration: till end of August 2027
Location: 80% onsite (Herzogenaurach), 20% remote

The project has the has the purpose to establish an objective, valid and reliable testing methodology based on the client's innovation strategy and philosophy to support future product iterations.
Tasks:
- Set-up of and collection of performance and physical/technical data from the external athletes (see below) with a number of different technologies these being VALD timing gates, Polar Heart Rate chest straps, Vmaxpro Velocity Sensor, A-Champs RoxPro Rebounder ,Playermaker IMU, Eurogoal 1500, Senaptec Sensory Station and Reflexion Edge.
- Creation of clear instructions in documented form (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint) that will act as a guide on how to administer battery of tests based on the contractor’s expertise.
- Independent organization and conduction of tests at Herzogenaurach Innovation Lab:
- This includes the conduction of onsite tests regarding the above-mentioned series of tests (testing battery) together with athletes (externals, amateur and semi-professional Football players).
- Provision of professional consultancy towards athletes regarding the test performance to achieve measurable input out of tests.
- Analysis of data in programming tool (python, Matlab, Excel, internal Athlete Data Management tool). Analysis is based on the test results.
- Documentation and evaluation of tests results in Excel, PowerPoint.
- Onsite execution of tests is required due to the physical availability of specialized testing equipment at the Herzogenaurach facility.
- Data management, data post processing and communication of findings
- Execution of post process collected data sets by uploading those data into client servers
- Report generation to communicate individual, team and population specific outcomes of the collected data
- Preparation of share-outs (PowerPoint) on monthly basis or towards milestones to wider Athlete Performance Football team and project specific internal stakeholders to communicate conclusions, learnings and next steps
- Biomechanical evaluation of the recorded data
- analysis including evaluation of movement data being collected by the above-mentioned technologies
- qualitative and quantitative assessment of the individual tests based on collected data
- integration of subjective feedback by testers/athletes (this includes feedback on different Footwear conditions)

- Phase one 0-3 months – analysis of the requirements for the battery of tests included equipment needed, and protocols
- Phase two 3-6 months – pilot battery of tests in HZO
- Phase three 6-9 months – Valid battery of tests in HZO
- Phase four 9-12 months – Collection of large data sets both at home ground and with external partners
