Footwear designer (climbing footwear) - April 2024

For one of our clients we are looking for a Footwear Designer (Climbing footwear)

Overview:
The project is about creating the design of Climbing and Outdoor Footwear for SS26 TERREX and FIVE TEN Footwear.

Tasks:
Provide concept presentations and product creation including shell pattern, tech packing and Color line arts based on the Terrex and Five Ten seasonal briefing and the Terrex and Five Ten identity.

Timing is based on the design creation calendar for SS26.
CONCEPTUAL WORK ON TERREX and Five Ten Climbing and Outdoor Footwear for 5 shoes:
  • Independently create and provide a PDF concept presentation in Adobe Illustrator for 5 product creations including production ready shell patterns, 2d tooling drawings and tech packing process based on the Terrex and Five Ten seasonal briefing and the Terrex and Five Ten identity.
  • Outline the story and the consumer insights in the concept presentation based on contractor’s expertise. Make this project part of a holistic offer for the Terrex and Five Ten head to toe wardrobe based on the briefing, following the creative direction and design principles for the brand.
  • Prepare the design of the products in 5 design presentations and as shell pattern, 2d tooling drawings for 5 shoes, including Color line arts.
  • Provide for each shoe an overview of the surrounding family architecture as Illustrator drawings.
  • Presentation = Illustrator file containing black, white, and orange design concept sketches, mood, materials overview, consumer insights.
  • 50 pages (10 each product) or/and equivalent with MIRO online presentations
  • Shared on Sharepoint via Teams to the x-functional meetings (Gutchecks & CR0 – see timelines)
  • Presentation of the concept on site to the cross functional team including senior leadership team within the design milestone meetings (see Timelines)
  • Selection of technically feasible construction techniques and control the quality of the production process based on pullovers and samples and supplier feedback provided by the adidas TERREX/Five ten/BU Outdoor development team upfront.
  • Handover of 5 production ready techpack files (based on techpack file template), detailed sketches, Shell pattern, tooling 2d drawings and a material map.
  • Shared on Sharepoint via Teams to the x-functional meetings (see Timelines)

TIMELINES:
  • 1st day of contract: Preparation of SS26 season

  • February, 22nd: Concept Briefing
  • March, 18th: Concept Presentation
  • April, 19th: Product Presentation
  • May, 14th: CR0
  • May, 27th: Design Pack Handover

Duration: Till end of 2024
Total amount of days worked: 40 (capacity of around 4,5 days/month)
Location: remote (maybe 1-2 meetings onsite in Herzogenaurach)
