Service Manager with strong Scrum experience - April 2024

For one of our clients in the energy industry we’re looking for a freelance Service Manager with strong Scrum experience:

Project description:

The client’s international (ENG, GER) unit is very heterogeneous (around 14 different areas), mainly focusing on SAP based solutions and strongly following the ITIL Framework. The Client uses Azure DevOps to work in an Agile Environment to run the SAP Service.

The services mentioned in the task description will be provided within the framework of an agile development method.


Detailed description of the agile method/services:


The services shall be provided within the framework of an agile development method. The concrete activities required in each case to implement the services commissioned shall be agreed iteratively between the parties within the framework of sprint meetings and implemented by the consultant (Scrum Master) within the respective sprints following the sprint meetings. Prior to each sprint meeting, the consultant shall independently check, on the basis of its professional expertise, which individual services are reasonable and feasible within the scope of the assignment in the respective sprint. The sprints each have a duration of 2 weeks, so that the sprint meetings take place weekly. Within the individual sprints, the contracting parties shall coordinate the respective technical requirements for the services to be provided in 15-Minute Daily Stand-up Call meetings in order to achieve the compatibility of the individual components of the SAP Service. The technical requirements for the services to be provided are assessed by the consultant on the basis of its own technical assessment. After completion of a Sprint, the Parties shall conduct a "Sprint Review'' in which the consultant reports on the feasibility and status of the services performed by it in the previous Sprint and makes a recommendation on how to proceed with regard to the services that proved to be unfeasible in the respective Sprint. All of the meetings and exchanges described above shall take place exclusively in the presence of a central contact person named by the Client, who shall coordinate the project on our internal side. The organisation and scheduling of the meetings described above in which the consultant is involved shall be organised and carried out by the consultant and coordinated with the Client.

Task description

Provide professional consultancy to the SAP Service Manager with the operation of the SAP Service. This consists of the below subtasks:
  • Develop KPI-s to measure the performance of the SAP Service.
  • Present accurate reports to the management on a weekly basis on project progress
  • Create a document with recommendations on methods of improvement and present it to the Client for a sign off. Check if actions are implemented on time for service delivery upgrades.
  • Maintain high performance levels (according to industry-standards) for service-related processes, recommend improvement activities wherever necessary and present these to the Client for a sign off. After the Client signs off the recommendations, implement these improvement activities.
  • Create a project plan for the AZURE DevOps Project that provides service stability in the SAP Service.
  • Check if systems, procedures, and methodologies are in place (according to industry-standards and own experience).
