For one of our Düsseldorf-based clients we’re looking for a freelance SAP EDI Consutlant:

Project Description

The service is requested as part of the projects above. The projects have the purpose to:
  • Establish EDI processes with new Industry Business/Automotive trading partners;
  • Enhance the EDI template according to business needs decided by the client’s EDI Global Governance Board (GGB).
  • Establish EDI processes with new trading partners;
    • The requirements for these processes are being prepared in an official Requests according to the ITIL standards by the client’s business;
    • The Requests are provided to the external consultant who starts independently to do analysis and work on the requests where directly possible. That is done without any client internal guidance or supervision;
      • As part of the analysis, the consultant needs to find a clinet conforming solution;
      • Prepare a Technical Design with the solution to be applied; and
      • Implement it to resolve the issue;
      • The overall goal is to enhancement the EDI template;
  • Provide technical expertise to both usiness and the project-related IT team regarding the global EDI environment and SAP system landscape;
    • Perform an independent analysis of current EDI business processes in the area of Automotive and Industrial Business to determine whether existing business and EDI processes in one region fit to other regions or globally;
      • The consultant can then independently trigger Requests that go through the client’s ITIL process. If the process is completed, the consultant may proceed with the changes;
  • Consult the the client’s Corporate Consulting Team and business key users on EDI best practices, especially during alignment of EDI requirements and functional specification between the client and the trading partner;
    • he external consultant will handle the overall task fully on his own. Only when internal escalation is needed, he is informing the internal IT counterpart. However, the external consultant is not to participate in the internal team meetings;
  • Lead the IT change management process (following the client’s standard ITIL like) and building of Change Requests for the aforementioned EDI project and enhancement;
  • Independently create Process Design, Technical solution design and satellite interfaces design for the needed solution;
  • Organisation and execution of the following:
    • Preparation of process documentation materials according to the client’s IT Standards which are subject to approval by the client;
    • Coach Business on EDI best practices whenever the consultant implements a new process;
      • a new process is being implemented there is a one time coaching needed directly with the responsible business counterpart. If this is not the case and business counterpart is aware of the process implemented this is not needed.
      • An example of such session is 1 hour. The participant group heavily depends on the topic and needs to be determined by the consultant;
    • Independently perform tests of the software solution with Business counterparts to conclude that the solution is working;
      • In case of tests with negative results, the external consultant is responsible to apply a fix and conduct a new test until the solution is working according to the Technical and Functional Design;
    • Cut-over planning and execution;
    • Post go-live planning and execution;
  • Lead specialized parts of A&D phase:
    • process analysis,
    • process design,
    • process activation,
  • Coaching of project-related peers and team members on all new technical topics the consultant introduces independently to facilitate a knowledge transfer to the client’s IT team;
  • Proactive delivery of information to business users regarding new template processes and EDI messages.
  • Knowledge in EDI Transfer protocols like OFTP, OFTP2, X.400, FTP/SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, AS1, AS2, AS3, AS4
  • Ideally provide excellent knowledge in the client’s EDI environment and have the ability to work with various 3rd party EDI providers – SEEBUGER and GXS/OpenText
  • Specialize in Global Industry and Automotive business standards – EDIFACT, VDA, ODETTE, ANSI X.12, XML, CSV, others
  • Excellent knowledge on Scheduling Agreement processes – both from EDI and business process perspective
  • Excellent knowledge on various other Automotive processes – such as Just-in-Time, KANBAN, Delivery Order Processing (MAIS) – both from EDI and business process perspective
  • Hands on experience with VW VDA 4905, 4913, 4933, 4938, 4939, 4984 and 4987 EDI standards
  • Hands on experience of FCA Group (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) Odette EDI processes
  • Undergo at least one full implementation cycle for major Automotive manufacturers – Volkswagen Group, Daimler AG, BMW, Opel, Ford, Jaguar Land rover, PSA Group, John Deere, and others
  • Experience working with GEFEG FX EDI Software
  • Knowledge of Retail EDI standards and business processes is also an advantage
  • Excellent understanding of business processes related to SAP in OTC (Order to cash) environment including customizing skills (pricing, material determination, output control, sales documents, billing documents, self-billing processing, intercompany billing, foreign trade processing, agency business (renumeration lists), scheduling agreements in automotive industry
  • Excellent understanding of business processes related to SAP LE (logistic execution) environment including customizing skills: (inbound delivery processing, warehouse management, route determination, output determination, delivery types, proof of delivery process, picking process, packing process including handling unit management, packing instruction, shipment types, transportation planning point determination, batch management)
  • Excellent knowledge in SAP Master data like material master, vendor master, customer master including customizing
  • Basic knowledge in SAP material management (purchasing, consumption-based planning, inventory management)
  • Basic knowledge in SAP FI (account receivable, accounts payable, general ledger)
  • Excellent knowledge ABAP/4: (ABAP Workbench, Dialog Report and Batch Input Programming, deep knowledge in SAP enhancement concept like user exits, customer exits, business add in, own copy requirements and form routines in SD)
  • Excellent knowledge in SAP ALE processing: ALE monitoring, ALE development for IDOC types and segments, IDOC serialization, IDOC versions, logical messages, setup ALE outbound and inbound scenarios
  • Good English and German proficiency both spoken and written
