Sustainable fuels Feasibility and Partnership Consultant - January 2022

For one of our clients, we are looking for a Sustainable fuels Feasibility and Partnership Consultant

Description:
The client is a global energy company that generates, trades, and markets power on a large scale. The client also procures, stores, transports, and supplies commodities such as natural gas, LNG, and coal as well as energy-related products. In the future, we might develop into being a producer of liquid fuels from alternative, sustainable feedstocks to support CO2 emission reduction in the mobility sector. The client is working on sustainable fuels for hard-to-electrify mobility sectors (marine and aviation). In a lighthouse project, we develop an industry scale Power-to-Liquid facility (“Project”). The client aims to create a consortium of world class partners to enable the Project.
Project duration: January 2022 until December 2024.

Task description:

WP1:
  • Create partnership agreements: Strategic partnering with other companies is a key success criterion for the Project. Identify - from experience and contacts but also from consulting the project team - the potential cooperation partners for the project and propose these suggestions to the Hiring Manager (HM). These partners shall be corporates in the field of bioenergy, engineering refining and technology supply.
  • Prepare (set up agenda, create content slides, moderate) meetings with the potential partners.
  • Ultimately draft partnership agreements and choose the appropriate legal form, which can be Memorandum of understanding Joint Development Agreement, Special Purpose Vehicle Agreement or Joint Venture
  • Consult the client’s legal department, other yet-to-be-defined relevant department and the hiring manager on these draft documents and their progress.

WP2:
Manage partnership relation in case a partnership has been successfully established:
  • Organize and prepare the collaborative work streams
  • Organize and prepare meetings
  • Organize flow of information
  • Actively contribute advice based on knowledge and experience in joint project workshops of the partner and the client.

WP3:
Concept development and review: The client is currently in the feasibility phase of the project creating a feasibility study and site selection study. These studies build the basis for further studies which the client will define in the upcoming months:
  • Review these studies, develop key questions and give suggestions for improvement based on knowledge and experience and by consulting the client project team.
  • Depending on the studies’ results create suggestions for modifying/optimizing the concepts presented in the studies. Concept means: site, technology, target market, value chain, consortia partners, business case. Format: Word or PowerPoint.

WP4:
Stakeholder Management and Strategic Decision Process:
  • Prepare material (power point presentation),
  • Prepare suggestions, contributing to discussion for internal stakeholder management (key stakeholders are Strategy, Controlling, Risk, Sustainability, Tax, Property Management, Engineering, Legal, Operations departments) in milestone meetings and for the client’s process of “Strategic decision”, which is an official client process.

WP5:
Draft Public Funding acquisitions: The client is considering participating in Public Funding programs which shall subsidize the Project. The client is identifying possible funding programs. In case the client decides to apply for a public funding program:
  • Draft those parts of the funding application, which are related to the WP 1-4

WP6:
  • -Consult on strategic, technical or business questions on the Project.
  • Provide answers to formally requested strategic, technical or business questions, raised by the HM. The answers will be based on knowledge and experience and provided in written or oral form.

WP7:
  • Create a bi-monthly short report (Powerpoint Format) presented in the project team’s jour fixe with the goal inform the project team on the work results achieved.
