Project Name: Market Research Process

Project Description:
  • The service is requested as part of the project Market Research Process for execution of Insights Plan.
  • Market research project has the purpose of generating deeper understanding of the clients, customers and patients’ unmet needs in order to develop a customer centric solution or product. The Project and purpose is to design products in the indications in Inflammation, Oncology and CardioMetabolic.
  • Due to the expanding portfolio of the pipeline asset and the decision to support early pipeline assets much earlier with primary market research initiatives, the client is seeking external expertise, so that internal knowledge can be build up.

  • Communicating with Operative Unit’s Pre-defined colleagues/functions in the local operating units (OPUs) to review translations of Market research questionnaires and providing required documents to OPUs for local compliance approval:
    • Sending translated questionnaires and research material, which are provided by external agencies, to the contacts in the OPUs and checking the translations. The contractor receives the translated questionnaires and research material from the external agency via mail and sends these to the contacts in the OPUs to check the translation.
    • Tracking the project progress and identifying how to progress the project, Every primary market research initiative has given (pre-defined) timelines for individual steps, which includes also time for feedback and input from local Boehringer operating units or other global functions. Exact flow will be provided to the contractor via the project check list
    • At the beginning of the primary market research initiatives key milestones and deliverables are defined (finalization of screener, finalization of questionnaire/discussion guide, fieldwork start and end with HCPs, preliminary read-out of results, final result read-out). The contractor needs to provide update (normally via Word/Excel-document regarding the progress, if the next milestone can be met and if not, how the timelines will change including timelines for upcoming milestones).
    • Collecting the input to material from OPUs and providing it back to the agency for integration into the material. The contractor tracks the timeline for the project stakeholders and collects the input material from OPUs and provides back to the agency for integration into the material.
    • Collecting information from different contributors via e-mail, consolidating the information and providing the aligned client feedback to the primary market research agency, so that project can progress with the next process step.
  • Collecting all relevant information via own tracking tool for conducting a primary market research studies are available and submitting it for NTA (non trail activity) review to fulfil the client’s procedure before speaking with external customers. In case of missing/incomplete information contacting the OPUs and project owner to make this information available for the NTA team.
  • One time attending external pilot interviews with health care professional and/or patients and amend market research materials with the agency accordingly.
  • Tracking if changes to the questionnaire were implemented by the external agency. Seeking approval from the project owner for final changes.
  • Developing/reviewing global & local summary presentations of the results of a market research. The contractor receives summaries and presentations of the market research from the agencies and checking these summaries and presentations against the objectives and providing these materials to the Project owner for review and approval. The internal project owner provides the reports to the business partners as final deliverables.
  • Providing follow-up analysis and checking executive summaries based on the contractor’s expertise by listening to HCPs interviews and to control/track if key collected insights are reflected in the final deliverable/report.
  • Clarifying possible remaining questions of business partners with the market research agency and providing a summary of the answers. The  project owner reviews this and finally provides it to the internal team. All material, reports and questions are to be sent via email and uploaded to iShare.

  • Identifying any areas where the Market Research Agency output may to be improved to make the results clearer to the client. (Measurement by Feedback from internal business partners). Rephrasing questionnaire pre- / and post interviews with Healthcare Professionals (HCP) / patients upon need of regarding market research. Providing these optimizations to the project owner and checking case by case if a certain business partner need direct project clarification
  • Checking accuracy & completeness of delivered analysis from external Market Research Agency in final reports, based on the contractor’s expertise.
  • The final reports are provided the agency directly. Criteria for accuracy and completeness are defined in the original Request for proposal that The contractor received from the Project owner in advance. The deliverables will be finally checked by the client.
  • Following up with internal stakeholders regarding pending/unanswered questions for further activities in case of upcoming questions in meetings and independent clarification of aspects regarding pending/unanswered questions. Based on project meetings, following up on potential questions and passing them back to the external agency. Open questions are also provided to the contractor by the internal project owner via email. Therefore, the contractor attends project related meetings.
  • Providing ongoing bi-weekly status reports of the project status and expected completion date as well as contingency plan in case of delays. Informing the project owner in case a projects is going off timeline. Based on the timing guidance in the project check list informing and providing possible options to proceed to the contact based on their expertise, and initiate possible steps in order to keep on track with project timeline.
  • The performance of the contractor has the goal to execute primary market research project based on the provided check list and delivers to Project Owner insights guidance document and recommendation based on customer collected feedback to make informed decision. Final decision making and usage of the collected insights sits with the Project Owner and not with the contractor.
